IT Security (M.Sc.) full time / part time

Structure and course of study

Form of study

The Master’s programme is offered both as a full-time and as a part-time study.

  • Full-time study: the standard study period is three study semesters including the Master's thesis.
  • Part-time study: the standard study period is six study semesters including the Master's thesis. The lecture periods for part-time study are the same as those for full-time study, i.e. lectures are mainly held during the day on weekdays, though some are also offered as virtual lectures.

The Master’s degree in IT Security is designed to be consecutive, i.e. it builds on the Bachelor’s programme in Computer Science at Munich University of Applied Sciences or similar. The knowledge gained from that programme is required for the Master's programme.

Course of study

The study programme can be followed full-time or part-time. The standard study period for full-time study is three semesters, for part-time study it is six semesters. A total of 90 ECTS points must be gained during the studies. The study plan is designed so that 24 weekly hours per semester with a total of 30 ECTS points are taken for full-time study. For part-time study this is 12 weekly hours per semester with a total of 15 ECTS points.

The study programme is arranged thematically into three areas ,,IT Security“, „Data Privacy“ and „Social and Ethical Aspects“. Beside these foundations, the student can choose from many elective courses to create his or her individuale study programme.
